I have an immense amount of love for Season 3. First of all, it’s the little season that could — the show would’ve been cancelled if it wasn’t for the legions of fans who bombarded NBC with letters; how often does that happen nowadays? And secondly, I think at this point the actors had realized the significance of the show and had learned to care about their characters. IT’S A SHAME THEY WERE SCREWED OVER WITH BUDGET CUTS AND INCONSISTENT WRITING.
It takes a special brand of crazy to appreciate TOS. I’ve heard lots of people say that they simply “don’t get it” because it’s “cheesy” or “dated” or “just plain strange”, especially when compared to Star Wars (what is with the perceived dichotomy anyway? Star Wars or Star Trek? Why not both? Or neither? They’re not even apples and oranges. They’re like, apples and chairs)… but that’s why I love it. And Season 3 is just a neverending torrential rain of crack.
Season 2 may be the ‘best’ season but Season 3 is like a hyperactive, stupid alley kitten. Sometimes you can’t help but love it more than your prize-winning purebred cat.
…Am I the only person who thinks that neither of the supposedly stunning leads in the new Star Trek reboot are as attractive as their predecessors?
